Barrow County to Have a Great Song Convention
The first meeting of the Barrow County Singing Convention will be held Saturday and Sunday next at Chappell’s church, two and a half miles south of Winder, directly on the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. The promoters are confidently expecting the biggest meeting of the sort ever held in the state – candidly admitting in advance that the house will not hold a third of the crowd expected if the weather is good. Many will go from Athens. Profs. J. B. Vaughn of Athens, J. L. Moor of Bethlehem, and J. T. Camp have promised to be on hand – and other song authors, publishers, and leaders are expected. The officers of the convention are J. H. Wheeler, president; S. C. Potts, vice president; L. R. Sheridan, secretary; and Rev. W. H. Faust of Winder, chaplain.
